How does it work?
The reason is an amendment to the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG 2003).
As of 01.01.2019, according to the Telecommunications Act*, WOWWW! prepaid cards must be registered before activation. For this purpose, data of the SIM card owner** will be collected for identification purposes before activation or activation. Activation of the WOWWW! prepaid card without registration is no longer possible from this date.
All WOWWW! prepaid card customers who activated or activated their WOWWW! Wertkarte by Dec. 31, 2018, must register no later than when their balance is topped up after Sept. 01, 2019.”

All WOWWW! Prepaid card customers who have requested activation or activation of their WOWWW! Prepaid card made by 31.12.2018, must register at the latest when the credit is topped up after 01.09.2019.
The SIM card does not need to be registered at the time of purchase. Registration can be performed independently of the purchase and is a prerequisite for the activation of the SIM card. If the SIM card is not activated, mobile services cannot be used.
